More shots of Blizzard right after her surgery. She is tired most of the time now, but she is still hanging in there. Her eyes bug whenever we take her out and let her sit with us on the sofa.

Foot in mouth syndrome?

Blizzard is still weak after surgery, but alive and moving around.

Blizzard is weak as expected, but she made it through the surgery and through the night. She doesn’t seem able to eat much hard food right now, so that’s a concern. Will keep you posted.

Thought I would let those of you who like my posts of Blizzard the dumbo rat (her pics seem to get reblogged more than those of my other rats) that she is going in for surgery today along with one of our other girls. We were reluctant to do this as Blizzard is about 2.5 years old. But she has had cancerous lumps for a while, which female rats often get, and one of them burst the other day. They leak fluid and once this happens, the rat gets an infection and usually dies pretty quick thereafter. Blizzard has always been the sweetest rat we have ever had, followed closely by Nugget the rat. Hopefully, all will go well and she will be around for a while longer.
